We’ve now got a ReverbNation page with home recordings of some of our original songs.
We’re delighted to be asked back to play at the Loanhead Music Festival concert on Friday 14th June. There’s some excellent acts on the bill, so it looks like being a great night.
We really enjoyed playing at the Teuchters for Tots fundraiser for Simpsons Special Care Babies at Pencaitland Bowling Club on Saturday. More importantly the event was a big success, raising over £1,200 for a great cause. Well done to Stella and Derek for all the hard work they put in to make this happen.
It’s been a busy couple of months for Gallus Crows and we’ve had a great time. Thanks to everyone who has come out to see us play. We’re taking a wee break from gigging over July/early August and concentrating on recording some of our songs. Hopefully we’ll be able to share some of the results on here over the coming weeks. We’ve got some shows planned for late August and September and we’ll be publicising the details on the gigs page soon.
We had great fun hosting the session at The Captain’s Bar last night. Thanks to Mark, Dougie, Phill, David, Colin, Becca, Sam, Mike, Kevin, Patrick, Eddy and everyone else who joined in. Thanks also to Pamela, Eddy and Bobby (Rantum Scantum) for giving us the chance to host our first session.
We all had a brilliant time playing on Madelaine Cave’s excellent “East Coast Folk” show last night. Many thanks to Madelaine and everyone at East Coast FM for making us feel so welcome. Thanks also to Mark for joining us on cajon and to our friend Therese for recommending us to Madelaine.

See our Facebook page for some more pics from the evening.
Videos of most of our set at the Loanhead Music Festival concert are now available on the Sound & Vision page.
Loanhead Music Festival is finally over and we had an absolute blast. Our set at the Friday concert was great fun and seemed to go down well. Big thanks to Caitlin Andrew for being the fourth Crow again and to and Bruce Hogg for joining us on a couple of songs - some vids will follow. Even better was getting to see the other acts on the bill - the hugely entertaining The Fyrd (aka Eddy Hanson and Mike Breen), the simply wonderful Ethan Thomas and the groovesome Scatterbrain.
On the Saturday afternoon we each entered a song in the songwriter’s competition and really enjoyed listening to the other entries. We also played a few numbers at the open mic. In the evening the three crows headed down to the Mayflower for a foot-stomping session with some great singers and musicians.
Sunday afternoon was the outdoor open mic on the Gala Day stage in Loanhead square. The Crows played a wee set, assisted on Cajon by our pal Dougie Downie. Good fun was had by all, despite the rain doing its best to stop play. And finally, Gordon and Derek Crow fluttered along to the closing session of the Festival at Paddy’s on Sunday night… yet another stonking session!
So all in all a really memorable festival. Thanks to the organisers for all the hard work they put in to make it all happen. Can’t wait till next year!
Newbattle Celtic Festival was great fun. Undisputed star of the first Crows set was Caitlin, who remembered the tricky bit in Fisherman’s Blues when the silly old men all forgot! Great acoustic set in the Chapel with loads of people singing along. The only downside was not having much time to see the other performers - the youngsters from Donegal were particularly impressive.
Half the Crows also played with the Loanhead Guitar Club - the Paddy’s boys ‘n girls done brilliant :-) Really nice to hear Kenny from Peebles play some excellent stuff at the open Mic too.
Thanks to the organisers of this excellent event and to everyone who came to see us play.
